Intramurals Journal

This year's Intramurals was memorable for me, even though the time was short, we enjoyed it to the max, from cheering and playing games. Getting to know each other, especially people from different grade levels too, it's such a shame though that it happened when the school year was gonna end soon.

Though I didn't play much this Intrams, I was selected to play chess even though I didn't know how to, I did manage to grasp the rules and how to move the pieces (I lost in all my games). At first, I tried to understand it as the games I usually play on PC, well the elements were similar, to be honest, I was just new to the turn-based system since I last played Pokemon. Either way, I learned something new!

It's truly admirable to see friends willing to push through challenging conditions like hot weather to participate in intramurals. Their dedication and determination to be a part of the games despite the discomfort demonstrates their passion for sports and their commitment to the team. It's moments like these that showcase the true spirit of athleticism, as individuals are willing to endure the physical strain and overcome external obstacles to engage in friendly competition.

Intramurals are a fantastic way for individuals to engage in friendly competition and foster a sense of community. Whether it's within schools, universities, or workplaces, these organized sports or games provide opportunities for people to come together, build relationships, and showcase their athletic abilities. Intramurals encourage teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy competition, while also promoting physical fitness and overall well-being. They offer a break from routine and create an enjoyable environment for participants of all skill levels to participate and have fun.

Family day Journal

Family Day isn't just about spending time with your family, it's also a day to spend time with your friends. Last Sunday, April 23,2023 we celebrated our annual family day, the bond of love, laughter, and togetherness that is shared by families all over the world. Family Day is a special occasion that reminds us of the importance of spending quality time with our loved ones and cherishing the moments we have together.

Our Family Day was from afternoon to evening, though I got there early to prepare for our Dance Palabas performance which was part of our Intramurals Tournament. The heat during midday was so hot, considering its already summer, right after lunch we were to Iassemble in our respective tents on the grounds for a mass, and due to how hot and bright it was we had to squeeze in our chairs inside the tent just to be under the shade.

Right after the mass, we change our clothes immediately thinking our dance performance was right after, turns out there were still games before our performance could start. The games were interesting though, especially the JHS batch, because even if you lost you got to eat an apple so I guess it's a win-win for each side? After the games were the singing competition, so proud of Althea for singing for our team. (Until I met you~~) And congratulations to all the winners!

After the Elementary batch, were JHS and each team's time to shine. Everyone's dances were incredible id say, the blue team's acting and choreography were super good too!! Since that was the final competition in the overall Intrams, we gave our all for our dance, even the sky was in a color that fitted our dance theme. Though we ended up in 4th place overall, for the past month everyone practiced for was a fun experience even after almost 3 years of not having face-to-face Intramurals.

The evening was approaching, and everyone was ready and preparing for dinner. Eating dinner with everyone was fun since we usually only eat together for lunch during whole-day schedules. Surprisingly everyone ate fast so they could dance to the music playing, students dancing like it was a party, while parents talking to each other. As soon as the raffle was done though, some families left already, probably because they lived far and it was already night. Though we were planning to take a picture with only us close friends, but someone left already so we just edited one of his pictures so it would seem like he was part of it, both pictures were taken on the same day so I guess it's valid (Seriously when there's an event happening we never get to have a group photo because someone left already or the other one was absent).

The memories we create with our families are precious and will stay with us forever. It is through these moments that we form strong bonds and deepen our love for one another. As we reflect on our own family experiences, we are reminded of the joy and meaning that family brings to our lives. Family or friends, spending time with people who you care for is something that will always be memorable to us. The day was hot but the night was when everyone had fun the most, I'm sure that everyone who attended that day will surely remember it as a day when family and friends get together to spend time.

 Antiquities of  the Past

- A collection of  Antiques from the past, during the Museo de Annata exhibit on the 21st of October, 2022. Things that were normally used in everyday doings, are now viewed as important relics of the past, with descriptions of how it was used in the past.

Usually, Cameras like these aren't being produced anymore, due to more digital and technological expansion. The red camera on the bottom is a digital camera from around 10 years ago, while the one on the top and the one on the bottom left are cameras that both needs a film to capture pictures.

Binoculars like these are used for a certain way like Watch outs and in boats.
Recently Binoculars aren't that much used, other than telescopes. Though smartphones today can zoom in as far as Binoculars of the past.

Vinyls and CDs are still popular to this day, though you would still need a Vinyl record player or CD player to actually listen to it. To date back, Vinyls are older than CDs, truthfully I still think that CDs are just a mini and compact version of  a Vinyl. You can still find CDs and Vinyl albums in some stores, but songs and albums today are usually online with digital releases.

This kind of Telephone is an old version of what we have today, though a similar design like the one shown above, telephones or Landlines are the versions that are used today, not every household has a Landline.

Paintings are a reminiscence of the past, capturing moments through art, and also a way to express one's emotion. Paintings have been dating back hundreds of years before, and are now displayed in museums to show how things were in the past.

Seven Sundays

Mystic Colors

In the small bario of Pinagmungajan a town called Campo, there lived a Corn farmer,

Mang Timo. Mang Timo has been raising his beautiful daughter, Marcelina. Ever since his wife died after giving birth, Mang Timo has been raising Marcelina on his own. This story will talk about the local color and identifying it.

"Tabi! Tabi!" or "Tabi-Tabi po" Mang Timo said. In this case, it talks about Mannerism.

"Tabi-Tabi po" is a saying or a way to excuse yourself when entering or passing by an unknown place. Usually, the saying goes as there might be "Engkantos" or spirits living there. This could also be a Social-Custom as it has been passed and taught through generations.

Putat is referred to as the home of the Engkantos. The Carabao in which Mang Timo

was working with to plow the fields to plant corn. Both of these sentences are in the form of Dialect, as Putat and Carabao are a dialect in the Philippines. Tatay which Marcelina calls his father, and a way to call your father in the Philippines, is also a dialect.

A Kubo , in which Marcelina and Mang Timo lived at. A Kubo

is usually a home to many farmers in the Philippines. And resolving it as an Object of Local Color. The Bahay Kubo has been an icon to the Philippine culture and has been around since old times. The materials used in a Bahay Kubo are of bamboo, wood, or even coconut trees, making it a cheap way to build a house in the countryside.

In conclusion, the story "Mystique of Campo: Timo, Guardian of that Putat" has a lot of

references, in which many can identify the different kinds of Local Colors. Throughout the story, the many mystical and unbelievable parts are a way to let the reader know and discover such things that are a usual thing to use or to say in the Philippines and is also a way to fascinate them.
